The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover; dig this, can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are positives.

Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large debris and clean them as required. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot cleaner with mop that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaners reviews we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
