Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of equippable items like weapons, armor, and trinkets to a certain level. They can be obtained at any upgrader NPC with the appropriate currency.

Upgrade components are inserted into equipment to offer attribute bonuses and extra effects. They are generally slot-restricted, however, there are some universal upgrades.

Rerolling

A player can reroll an item upgrade in Diablo 4. This is done via the Level Up mechanic, which suspends the game and displays a list of four randomly chosen upgrades.
