1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot vacuums that mop's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot automatic vacuum and mop and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot vacuums that mop uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
