WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item upgrader mod but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the Item level Upgrade and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's Best item upgrader to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
