Upgrades to gear increase its stats base and often enhances its extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements, and how many random augmentations are applied.

If you choose an upgrade component that you want to put into an item the game will show a pop-up window that shows the necessary requirements.
