The best robot vacuum that mops Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot mop vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
