The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or voice.
The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households and can fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like the magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments as well as a handheld. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually does the trick). However, this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better maneuver its own. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy best robovac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top rated robot vacuum manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic hoovers cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot vacuum cleaner for sale's cleaning station. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the click of a button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually if needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
