1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose automatic vacuum and mop robot that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot auto vacuum and mop to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
