Why We Love Robot Hoover And You Should Too
The best robotic mop and vacuum Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris, and wash them when required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot vacuum cleaner reviews to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
