The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good robot vacuum cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums with mop we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
