WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade items boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item level upgrade (morphomics.Science) upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
