Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination automatic vacuum cleaner and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes This robot automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
