World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item upgrading is listed on the character sheet.

Using the item level can help players evaluate the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the item's level.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item upgrading, as well as its level. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to the actual Blizzard item level.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the size of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item level upgrade are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item upgrader kit can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in the early game, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
