Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrades from the items.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon can absorb depends on the extent of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to maximum upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item upgrader can be given, as illustrated below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are worth the investment.

Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The boost in defense typically isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by doing side quests, or killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of granting you the highest tier blessings and perks.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons favored by their teammates to make them more powerful as well. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems apart from the rare and legendary ones, which you must attain an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once within an item upgrades of equipment.

Using more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels also improve performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be swapped, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be recovered through an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character many small, but beneficial, benefits. You can find them in the starting area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers and later found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not fighting. This lets a hero become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the absence of excellent team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item upgrader kit. It's better to upgrade one important stat instead of two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
