Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide For Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade items that can be used on weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrades from the items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. But, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade that an item level upgrade will receive, as shown below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades require charges to use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but can be found at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in performance and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
Upgrading a piece of armor to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically boost its defense but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it will dramatically reduce its agility and speed. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is generally not worth the weight and power costs of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade item can increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a certain number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier perks and blessings.
To increase their level faster, many players prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and various ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the grade of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the level of the gem, it will provide a different stat boost when slotted into weapons, gear and jewelry.
The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones which require a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
The use of more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is usually performed for aesthetic reasons. Jewels also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped freely but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade item components, such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged and can only be retrieved with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide a wide range of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by a hero's top stats.
In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. You can see them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
