World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it is able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the area the item upgrader kit is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item upgrader level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade item equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. Similar to base equipment, it must be done per item and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is more useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
