The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your best inexpensive robot vacuum with voice or through the app.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task that is being completed. It can quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments and a Wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to get every single area (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our tests, and it often goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tested which could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.

The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot, if necessary. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without ever registering the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
