The Best robot vacuum cleaner UK Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover; web, can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles and wash them if required. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and automatic vacuum and mop robot combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
