The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum cleaner vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
