The Best robot vacuum that vacuums and mops Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
