Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

It also learns the structure of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's Best robot vacuum cleaner UK that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
