WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item level Upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players through item upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item upgrading's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade item to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
