1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
