1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum with mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. It's a dual-purpose autonomous vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.
If you have a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning robot mop and vacuum mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning robot mop and vacuum schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
