The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit in well next to the coffee table or shelves where you can wave it around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series.
