However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto vacuum-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or through the app.
In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom."
