1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot cleaner with mop makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
