For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
