Path of Exile item Upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The ability to absorb damage of an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be heavier.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades grant armor a greater number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an item will be given, as illustrated below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant boost to stats and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to its max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also affect its agility and speed. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces that are higher than +9 because the increase in defense is usually not worth the extra weight and power costs of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons also have special enhancements that enhance their intrinsic qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade to apply. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of bosses or monsters, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items have a higher chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of advantages and benefits.

To level up faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gem, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a sufficient level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same type without damaging it. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment once.

It is normal to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be found through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with a variety of small, but valuable advantages. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through completing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and also helps fill in the void of a strong team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with hero's ideal stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace in the near future. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel for the item upgrading to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item level upgrade has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand they will select a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
