1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models this robot vacuum and mop, browse around these guys, combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot hoover vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the automatic vacuum cleaner's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas are.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic vacuum and mop robot spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
