WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item level upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrade used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrade owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
