Path of Exile item upgrading, jszst.com.cn blog entry,

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Usually, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or effect when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of item upgrades names. For example the addition of a Glyph will transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

If an item is finished being leveled in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes for it and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item upgrader kit does not attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers may employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known point, like a benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be done in rare cases.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded item upgrades may also have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also features various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a good method to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in different ways. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.

There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the item's stats much compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs, which can be particularly beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To determine if an Best item upgrade is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
