3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance.
