The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (Read the Full Report) can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled as well as large debris and wash them if required. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robotic mop and vacuum robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot hoover and mop autonomous vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
