WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade items increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrades, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current Item level Upgrade level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's Best item upgrader to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
