Upgrades can increase the power of a piece and, sometimes, even add extras. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the number of random augmentations that are applied.
For instance, the premium racial shield Razortail is often upgraded to enhance its lightning absorb ability in PvP or to provide additional defenses on missile based builds in PvM. This makes it more exchangeable than the non-upgraded perfect version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to reroll a purchased item like an armor, weapon, or ring. The item is replaced with an identical item however with different bonuses. Reroll tokens are a cost-effective option to upgrade equipment. However, they don't keep the level of the original item and any resources wasted won't be compensated for.
The survivors can acquire reroll tokens through several means such as the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures.
