They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning robot mop and vacuum maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
