1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it will return to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot floor cleaner on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room cleaning robot and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits in well next to the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like the magic device.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.

This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also offers the ability to connect two attachments and a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to get every single spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic floor scrubber. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is found on all kinds of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to understand and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a problem for certain shoppers.
