The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum that mops vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning robot mop and vacuum settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot cleaner with mop vacuums we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
