The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the necessary component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
If an Best item upgrade is leveled out in this way, it is eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. For example an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers may utilize a level to measure the height of the building to an established location, such as an existing benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item upgrade. It is a crucial part of the game, and it can boost the damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item level upgrade may also come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are offered in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is a great way to give an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can be different sizes, have none of the elements, or contain a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They also aid in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the item's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements for specific items.
In general generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will give a substantial increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
