1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum best we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot hoover and mop utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot vacuum cleaner reviews on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum best vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
