Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum cleaner comparison vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs and has an enormous bin that will need to be emptying every so often.

You can also find models that mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be beneficial for those with children or pets. A lot of the top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It can get stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or by voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self cleaning vacuum cleaner-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits perfectly next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to match the task that is being completed. It swiftly switches from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's a good choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. The app is simple to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well with taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker robot vacuum cleaner best buy remote vacuum cleaner

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and automatically adjusts the power level. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map, and control the functions and schedules. You can also track the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors so you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the edge. And the ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
