Item upgrades allow players to increase the item level of equippable items like weapons, armor, and trinkets above a certain threshold. They can be purchased at any upgrader NPC with the appropriate currency.

Upgrade components are integrated into equipment to give attribute bonuses and extra effects. These are usually slot-restricted however, there are some universal upgrades.

Rerolling

A player is able to reroll an upgrade to an item in Diablo 4. This is done by using the Level Up feature, which suspends the game and displays four randomly chosen upgrades.
