WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrade level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current Best item upgrade level of the item being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item Level Upgrade. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item upgrader mod that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade item their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
