The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot cleaner hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum uk vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot vacuum that mops to clean a particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
