For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
