What Freud Can Teach Us About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade items increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The Best item upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade item recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item upgrading level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrade (yogicentral.science) level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
