WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade items your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item upgrader kit from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using a The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

item upgrades upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain Item Level Upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
