WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an Item level upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade items will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an The button will display the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current level of the Best item upgrader. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrading for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
