The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
