Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best rated robot vacuum robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum mop cleaner robot's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot vacuum cleaner uk which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
